What is Mission SF?

Mission SF is a nonprofit partnership designed to achieve financial justice and economic opportunity in the Greater Mission District. Mission SF consists of Mission SF Federal Credit Union (formerly Mission Area Federal Credit Union- MAFCU) and Mission SF Community Financial Center (formerly Mission Community Financial Assistance).

Mission SF FCU is a growing community development credit union serving the Greater Mission in San Francisco. Mission SF FCU is managed by CEO Salvador Duran. Mission SF FCU specializes in serving low-income individuals, immigrants, entrepreneurs, and youth.

Mission SF FCU provides members with a chance to repair and rebuild their credit; counseling to better manage their finances; various microfinance savings and loan products (often providing members with their first loan); and education and training through our non-profit affiliate Mission SF Community Financial Center. The Center provides education and training for youth through its Youth Credit Union Program, as well as youth employment and adult financial education training.

Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary was formed to aid homeless and abused domestic and farmed animals in the San Francisco Bay Area and the San Joaquin valley. We assist local humane societies and rescue groups with animals-primarily farmed animals-who, due to their breed, their health, or their personality, cannot be adopted into permanent homes.

Their mission is to provide life-long care for these animals, and to educate the public about humane animal care and practices. We rehabilitate, both physically and psychologically, mistreated animals and, if possible, we will find appropriate homes for them. In an effort to prevent further cruelty to these animals, we educate the public on caring for companion animals as well as on issues concerning farmed animals.

Harvest Home is also an official sanctuary for House Rabbit Society, based in Richmond, CA.

was adopted from the Healdsburg Animal
Shelter.
She enjoys traveling extensively and spending
her spare time surrounded by her supportive
and fun loving friends and family.
“The Idea for the book came about as my husband and I
faced a similar diagnosis as the characters Kevin and Modra.
We debated and discussed our situation and options with
our friends and family who happened to be very supportive.
To our surprise, the most interesting opinions came from
strangers we met through the years while traveling abroad...
we would never see each other again and so, we shared our
stories.
With every conversation I realized that except for those that
are born with the desire, parenthood is not necessarily an
automatic for all couples; Some admitted that a diagnosis like
“unexplained infertility” would force them to truly consider
if and how far they are willing to go to have children. I also found
that not everyone has a supportive cluster of people surrounding
them and for many of the people we spoke to, a difficult choice
is/was made almost impossible by those they love most.
I don’t know when or if I will ever regret not using every scientific
advance to conceive, but I do know that I have to listen to my soul
because it’s a long life, and though I may try, I cannot possibly
avoid every regret"
